This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, utilization, and sharing of your information in relation to your engagement with our services, which include those provided through our websites, communications (such as emails, texts, and phone calls), and mobile applications (collectively referred to as the "Peruhu Platform"). Additionally, it covers the content, features, and services (our "Services") that we offer. The terms "We," "Us," and "Peramiho" denote Peramiho Technologies Ltd., a company based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
By accessing or using the Peruhu Platform, you agree to our collection, use, and sharing of information about you as outlined in this Privacy Policy. We may provide translations of this Privacy Policy in various languages for your ease of understanding. However, in the event of any discrepancies between versions, the English version will take precedence and serve as the authoritative reference.
We may gather, transfer, and store information about you in relation to your use of the Peruhu Platform, including any data you send to or through our Services. This information is utilized to enable the functionality of our Services, meet your requests, enhance the quality of our Services, conduct research and analysis related to our Services, customize your experience, monitor usage of our Services, provide feedback to third-party businesses featured in our Services, display relevant advertisements, promote our Services, offer customer support, communicate with you, back up our systems, facilitate disaster recovery, improve the security of our Services, and adhere to legal requirements. Even if we do not keep such information, it still needs to be transmitted to our servers initially and stored briefly for processing.
i). Account Information: When you create a Peruhu account, we collect and utilize the details you provide, including your first and last name, phone number, peruhu id and any additional information such as gender, email address, or date of birth. Your first and last name, peruhu id along with any photos or content submitted during account creation, may be publicly displayed in your account profile. We also retain and use your preferences to enhance your user experience. You can update certain account details later through your account settings. If you suspect that someone has created an unauthorized account using your personal information, you can request its removal by reporting it.
ii). Publicly Shared Content: The content you post on the Peruhu Platform is designed to be publicly accessible. This includes your photos, likes, reactions, ratings, and reviews. Additionally, your account public profile (e.g your first and last name, city, the month and year you joined Peruhu, profile and cover photos), and the list of businesses you like is also visible to the public. Other activities, such as your reviews on businesses and interactions with others’ posts (e.g., marking them as funny, interesting etc.), the posts you like and the users you follow, may also be publicly viewable. However, you can adjust the visibility of certain activities through your account settings.
iii). Communications: When you create an account or use specific features, you agree to receive messages from other users, businesses, and Peruhu. While you can adjust some messaging preferences in your account settings, certain administrative, transactional, or legal messages from Peruhu cannot be opted out of. For instance, if you make a reservation, place an order, join a waitlist, request a quote, or contact a business through our Services, we or the business may send you messages related to your transaction using the contact details you provide, including SMS to your phone number.
We may also track how you interact with messages sent by us or through our Services, such as whether you opened, deleted, or forwarded them, and share this information with relevant parties (e.g., to notify them if you viewed their message). When a user requests a quote or similar information from businesses via our Services, we may share details about the status of the request, such as whether a business has responded, the type of response (e.g., a quote or a request for more information), and if the user has replied to the business.
If a business shares its availability or schedule through our Services, this information may be used to determine availability or schedule appointments. Messages exchanged through our Services may be stored to process, deliver, and allow you to manage them. We may also review and disclose these messages in connection with investigations or to improve our Services. We reserve the right to block messages we deem inappropriate, such as spam, fraudulent solicitations, or paid review requests.
Additionally, we may store information from your communications with us, including phone calls, letters, emails, in-person interactions, or other electronic messages. Communications with you, including phone calls, may be monitored and recorded for quality assurance. If you represent a business listed on Peruhu or use a phone number linked to such a business, we may contact you via phone or email using the contact information you provide, make publicly available, or that we have on record for your business.
iv). Activity: We keep track of how you interact with our Services, including your search history, the pages you visit, the dates and times of your visits, calls you make to businesses through our mobile apps, and any reservations, purchases, or transactions you complete. We also collect information that your computer or mobile device shares with us when you use our Services, such as your browser type, device type, browser language, IP address, WiFi details (like SSID), mobile carrier, phone number, unique device identifier, advertising identifier, and location data (including geolocation, beacon-based location, and GPS). Additionally, we may capture the URLs you visit and the mobile apps you use.
v). Transactions: When you initiate a transaction through our Services—such as booking a reservation, joining a waitlist, scheduling an appointment, or making a purchase—we collect and store the information you provide related to the transaction. This includes your name, phone number, address, email, payment details, and any other information relevant to the transaction or request. We use this information to process your transaction, send you related communications, and streamline future transactions.
We may also use aggregated or anonymized data from these transactions for analytics and to enhance Peruhu’s services. Such information may be shared with third parties, and third parties may share similar information with us, for the same purposes. When you provide sensitive payment information, such as credit card numbers, it is encrypted using industry-standard technology.
If you write reviews about businesses you’ve transacted with through our Services, we may publicly indicate that you completed a transaction with those businesses in connection with your review. For example, if you book a reservation or place an order through our Services and later review your experience, we may display that you made the reservation or order through Peruhu alongside your review.
If you enable location access for our mobile apps, we may collect and store your location data even when the app is running in the background. You can control or restrict our access to certain data, such as location information or mobile advertising identifiers, by adjusting your device or browser settings. For example, you can manage these permissions in the privacy settings of iOS or Android for our applications.
vi). Contacts: You have the option to invite others to join or connect with you on the Peruhu Platform by sharing their contact details with us. Alternatively, you can grant us access to your contacts stored on your mobile device, computer, or third-party platforms to choose whom you’d like to invite. If you permit us to access your contacts, we will transfer this information to our servers long enough to process your invitations or connection requests.
vii). Sensitive Personal Data: While using our Services, you may opt to allow Peruhu to collect and store sensitive personal information, such as your precise geolocation. You might also share other sensitive personal details through the content you post on Peruhu, such as in reviews, direct messages, or other shared information. You can restrict or disable our collection, use, or sharing of location data by adjusting the settings for our applications in the privacy settings of iOS or Android. Additionally, you can delete content containing sensitive personal information through your account settings.
viii). Business-Related Information: If you are representing a business on Peruhu, we may gather and showcase details about you that are tied to your business operations. This could include a business name that includes your personal name or a business address that is publicly available and also serves as a home address. Additionally, we will collect and display any professional background information you choose to provide through our Services, such as details about your professional licenses, certifications, work history, or areas of expertise.
ix). Multiple Devices: You can access our Services from various devices (such as your mobile phone, computer, or other internet-connected devices) and across different platforms (e.g., the Peruhu website or mobile apps). The data we collect and store from these different access points may be linked and combined. Additionally, your activity or contributions on one Peruhu platform will generally be visible and accessible across all other Peruhu platforms.
We, along with our third-party service providers, may use cookies, web beacons, tags, scripts, local storage technologies like HTML5 and Flash (sometimes referred to as "flash cookies"), advertising identifiers (such as Apple’s IDFA or Google’s Advertising ID), and similar tools ("Cookies and Tracking Data") when you interact with our Services, third-party websites, and mobile apps. These tools may include unique identifiers and can be stored in various locations, including your computer or mobile device, in emails we send you, and on our web pages.
Cookies and Tracking Data may collect and share details about you and your use of our Services, such as your browser type, search preferences, IP address, data related to ads displayed to you or that you’ve interacted with, and the date and time of your activity. These tools can either be persistent (stored over time) or session-based (deleted after each browsing session).
We use Cookies and Tracking Data in our Services for the following purposes:
i). Security, Authentication, and Legal Compliance: Designed to prevent fraudulent activity, safeguard your information from unauthorized access, and ensure adherence to legal obligations. For instance, we use Cookies to verify whether you are logged into your account.
ii). Preferences: Used to store information about your chosen settings and how you prefer our Services to function and appear. For example, we use Cookies to remember your selected language or the theme mode (e.g., light or dark) you’ve chosen on the Peruhu Platform.
iii). Functionality: Designed to ensure our Services operate as you expect. For example, we use Cookies to determine whether you’ve already created an account.
iv). Notifications: Used to manage alerts or prompts that we believe could enhance your experience with our Services. For example, we use Cookies to prevent showing you the signup notification if you’ve already viewed it.
v). Advertising: Aimed at delivering more relevant ads to users and increasing their value to advertisers. For instance, we may use Cookies to show you personalized ads based on your browsing history or to track whether you’ve recently engaged with an advertisement.
vi). Analytics: Designed to help us analyze how users interact with our Services. For example, we use Cookies to understand how our search suggestions align with your activity on the search page.
You can manage certain Cookie preferences through your device or browser settings. However, adjusting these settings may impact how our Services function. The process for disabling Cookies varies depending on your device and browser but is typically located in your preferences or security settings. For instance, both iOS and Android devices offer settings aimed at restricting certain types of ad tracking. Please be aware that modifying these settings will not stop all advertisements from being displayed to you.
Third parties may collect, receive, or process information about you in the following ways:
i). Content and Data Partners: We permit third-party partners to use and showcase certain public content from our Services, such as your photos, reviews, and other details outlined under “Public Content” in Section 1 above.
ii). Advertisers: We may share non-identifiable, de-identified, or aggregated information from or about you with third parties for advertising programs and data analytics. Additionally, we share specific information, as outlined below, with businesses on Peruhu, which may or may not include advertisers.
iii). Acquired Data: Peruhu may obtain information from third parties that allows us to identify and contact representatives of local businesses. This acquired data may be combined with other information we receive from or about you and used for the purposes outlined in Section 1 of this Privacy Policy.
iv). Aggregate or Anonymous Data: We share aggregated or anonymized user information with third parties, such as businesses listed on Peruhu and content distributors. For instance, we may provide data on the number of users who were exposed to or interacted with advertisements, or those we estimate visited the physical location of a specific business.
v). Service Providers Supporting Peramiho: We work with third-party service providers to support or deliver services related to your use of our Services. These include functions such as communications, hosting, security, fraud prevention, technical and customer support, tracking and reporting usage, quality assurance testing, payment processing, marketing, and more. We share information from or about you with these providers to enable them to perform their services or fulfill your requests.
For example, we may share your advertising identifiers (such as your IDFA, GAID, or a cryptographic hash of your email address) with third-party providers that assist in managing Peruhu’s advertising programs and measuring their effectiveness. This includes third parties that help evaluate the success of Peruhu’s advertising efforts by combining data they receive about you from sources outside our Services.
Peruhu shares personal information with its service providers under obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy, ensuring that such information is used only on Peruhu’s behalf and in accordance with our instructions. You may be able to restrict our access to some of this information through your mobile device settings, as described in Section 2 above, or through the settings within our Services. Additionally, Peruhu’s third-party service providers may share information with us that they obtain from or about you while providing their services or fulfilling your requests.
vi). Peramiho’s Role as a Service Provider: Peramiho gathers, receives, and processes specific information about you on behalf of businesses for which it acts as a service provider. For instance, when you make a restaurant reservation or join a waitlist through Peruhu, we collect your phone number, email address, and reservation details to share with the business. Peramiho does not disclose the information collected or received in its capacity as a service provider to the business or other third parties, unless stated otherwise in this Privacy Policy or directed by you.
Additionally, third parties may provide information about you to Peramiho so that we can offer services to them. For example, Peramiho may receive your information for purposes such as targeted advertising, measuring ad effectiveness, or facilitating connections to restaurant loyalty programs or point-of-sale systems. The collection, use, and sharing of your information by third parties are governed by their own privacy policies and terms.
vii). Business Transfers: We may disclose information pertaining to you to our parent companies, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other entities under common control, and we expect them to comply with this Privacy Policy. Should Peramiho be acquired by another company, or if a significant portion of our assets is transferred, that company will gain access to the same information and will be required to collect, use, and share it solely in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
viii). Businesses on Peruhu: We may share information about you, such as your city and, if provided, your age and gender, along with your device type and your interactions with our Services (like the businesses you bookmark or call, or if you visit a business's URL) with businesses on Peruhu. You can modify your account settings to control the amount of information we share. However, keep in mind that businesses can also see your public activities and posts, and may obtain information about you when you interact or transact with them, whether through Peruhu or otherwise, regardless of your settings (see Section 1 above). Additionally, if you call a business through our Services, we may provide the business with information about your call, such as the date and time and your phone number, which they would have received if you had called them directly. You might be able to limit our ability to collect and share your phone number via your phone settings or through your phone service provider.
ix). Links: Our Services may contain links to websites controlled by third parties, such as a business's URL. Aside from what is stated here, we do not share your personal information with these parties and are not accountable for their privacy practices.
x). Engagement with External Platforms: If you register for or log into Peruhu using a third-party platform like Apple or Google, or link your Peruhu account to platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, we may obtain information about you from those third parties. When you post content to a third-party platform via our Services, that platform will also receive the content, which will be accessible to anyone with access to it through that platform. Some of our web pages may use framing techniques to display content from third-party platforms while maintaining the appearance of our Services. In such instances, please be aware that the information you provide may be sent directly to the identified third party. If you engage with businesses through Peruhu, they will receive any information you choose to share with them, such as contact details provided in quote requests or direct messages, or your phone number if you call the business. Additionally, Peruhu may share information with third parties when you instruct us to do so through our Services.
xi). Investigations and Legal Disclosures: We reserve the right to investigate and disclose data from or about you if we believe, in good faith, that such action is: (a). Reasonably necessary to adhere to legal or law enforcement procedures, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, judicial proceeding, or other legal process or law enforcement request. (b). Helpful in preventing, investigating, or identifying potential misconduct related to our Services. (c). Necessary to protect our rights, reputation, property, or those of our users, affiliates, or the public, including disclosures related to Peruhu’s Consumer Alerts program. If you report or otherwise complain to us about content via our Services, we may share the core of your complaint with the content's author to allow them a chance to respond.
When you post content publicly on Peruhu that includes personal details, other users may be able to identify you or connect the content to your account. To reduce the chance of being recognized, consider using a pseudonym. However, be aware that using a pseudonym might affect how credible your contributions appear to others. Peruhu also offers a "Find Friends" feature that users can use to find each other using names or email addresses. You can control whether you appear in "Find Friends" searches through your account settings. Keep in mind that messages you send and receive through Peruhu are only private if both you and the recipient(s) keep them that way. For instance, if you send a message to another user, they might choose to share it publicly. Peruhu may access, review, and disclose these messages during investigations related to the use of the platform or to improve its services.
We will remove certain public posts from view and/or disconnect them from your profile. However, we may keep your information for reasons permitted in this Privacy Policy, unless the law prevents it. For instance, information may be retained to prevent, investigate, or identify potential misconduct related to our Services or to meet legal requirements. Residual copies of your personal information may also be kept in Peruhu's backup systems. It's important to note that businesses cannot remove their business pages, ratings, or reviews by closing their accounts. We keep information as long as it's reasonably needed for the reasons it was collected, or as otherwise allowed or required by law.
We employ a variety of security measures to protect the personal information you submit, both while it's being transmitted and after it's received. However, it's important to understand that no method of transmitting data over the Internet or via a mobile device, nor any method of electronic storage, is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable methods to protect your personal information, absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Our Services are designed for a general audience and are not intended for children under the age of 14. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in this age group. While it's unlikely children would use our services, if you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us. If we discover that a child under 14 has provided us with personal information without parental consent, we will take steps to remove the information and close the child's account.
You can contact us online with questions about our Privacy Policy. You can also reach our Data Protection Officer (“DPO”) by sending an email to dataprotection@peramiho.com and including "Attention DPO" in the subject line. For security reasons, we will take steps we deem necessary to verify your identity before fulfilling your request or sharing any personal data with you.
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. The most recent version will always govern how we collect, use, and share your information, and it will be accessible here. If we make significant changes to this Privacy Policy, we may notify you by email and/or by posting a notice on our Services before or on the date the changes take effect. By continuing to use or access our Services after these changes are implemented, you are agreeing to the updated Privacy Policy.
